I Louvre You

Musée du Louvre is the world's most visited museum, and a star of Paris.

It is stunning early in the morning, and at sunset. I could spend all day wandering the vast museum, but it's the perfect activity for a rainy day. It was built originally as a castle under Philip II, then expanded and used as the main residence for French Kings, until Louis XIV moved to Versailles.

The Mansard Roofs are my favorite part of French architecture, and a huge part of why the Louvre is the most beautiful place in Paris to me.

THINGS TO KNOW:

The line to get in is long and forms hours before the doors open. Definitely purchase tickets ahead of time so you can skip the line and walk straight in at your scheduled time.
